Privacy policy

PokeConnect (pokeconnect.nl) is responsible for processing your data. You can reach us at info@pokeconnect.nl.

When you create an account:

• Your display name and email address.
• Your password, only in encrypted form (we cannot read it ourselves). If you only log in with Google or Facebook, you have no password with us.
• If you log in with Google or Facebook: an ID of that account, so we recognise you. We receive your name and email address, and we never post anything on your behalf.

What you add to your profile yourself (all optional):

• A profile photo.
• Your Pokemon player ID, and whether you want to show it publicly.
• Your home region: your town and a location rounded to about 1 km. We never store your exact location.

Technical:

• A session cookie to keep you logged in, and a security cookie that protects forms against abuse. We use no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics.
• Error reports, so we can fix bugs. These may contain your account ID and IP address.

• To make your account work: logging in, showing your profile and sending emails such as confirming your email address or resetting your password.
• To show events near you first (using your home region).
• To keep the app safe and working, and to prevent abuse.

The legal basis is performing our agreement with you (your account) and our legitimate interest in a safe, working app.

Your public profile shows your display name, profile photo, town, when you joined, and your player ID only if you switch that on yourself. Your email address is never visible to others.

We never sell your data. We use a few services to run the app, which only process what they need for that:

• DigitalOcean: the server that runs the app and the database.
• Resend: sending emails.
• Bugsnag: reporting errors.
• Slack: internal notices for our team, for example that a new account was created. These contain your display name.
• Google and Facebook: only if you choose to log in with them.
• PDOK (Dutch government): to find the town at a location. We only send the location or your search term, not who you are.

For as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your data is removed from the app right away. We make a backup every night and keep only the latest three, so within a few days your data is gone from the backups too.

You may view, correct or delete your data, and object to how it is used. Much of this you can do yourself on your profile page; for anything else, email us. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
